CHAPTER 04: Tu mera humdard hai...

WINK CLUB, GURGAON WEST, DELHI, FRIDAY, 11:30 PM






Paromita Bose aka Pam and Simran Kaur aka Sim work in G.K. Constructions, were in disco club partying hard to loosen up the stress of work-filled week. They sat at the bar with drink and looking around if they could find hot single guy among the crowd of partying youngsters, the topic of gossip between two women was the new hot sensation in office.





Pam: “Sim, what do you think is there anything between ASR and Khushi ma’am?”

Sim: “Damn sure, haven’t you noticed how close they are...always together and ASR seems so protective of her, I’ve never seen him like that...not even with Lavanya ma’am”

Pam: “Poor Lavanya ma’am, she once had the chance to marry ASR and lost it, than see married Samar sir and left him too for ASR. But what is the use as it seems she missed her chance.”





Sim: “Yap she had gotten two hot hunks and she missed both. Ah, Pam when would we get one?” wistfully as she sipped her drink.












There was a familiar voice from beside them which made both turn their heads turn in the direction. There stood Arnav in black jeans, white casual t-shirt and black leather jacket with messy hair ordering drinks and beside him was Khushi in tight little black dress with hair in an intrigued elegant French braid holding a small black clutch-purse and they haven’t noticed them.

Pam and Sim together: “Good evening, ASR and Khushi ma’am”





Arnav-Khushi looked at them, Arnav casually said: “Who are you? Do we know you?”






Pam and Sim felt confused with his reply but nonetheless Pam said: “Sir, we are G.K. Constructions employee and we’re working with you in that project”

Arnav: “Who is ‘sir’ here?”




Khushi: “Girls, its weekend and we’re here for partying and boozing...”

 Arnav continued: “...which means we don’t know you and you don’t know us, its weekend and we’re in party. So enjoy!”

Saying so taking their drinks Arnav-Khushi moved waving them as both the girls stared at them amazed as how the strict yelling tornado has turned in party-guy who is boozing, dancing and laughing. They saw Arnav-Khushi dancing in the dance floor laughing as Pam says to Sim: “You’re right, they are defiantly more than just friends...they have to be”

Sim: “Yeah, they look cute together”













Than two cut guys came asking them for dance and both saying yes, moved to dance floor to enjoy, like Arnav said its weekend and they are here partying and relaxing for which they came to club. Rest of the night they did saw Arnav-Khushi few times but never went to talk or something, letting them enjoy and enjoying themselves.

Lavanya in her room lost in thoughts, it was late night despite which sleep was far away from her as her mind was pledged with the thoughts of Arnav-Khushi as she thought what they might be doing now. Anjali woke up feeling thirst and picked up the glass of water kept her bedside table, after drinking she kept the glass down back and her eyes fell on Lavanya sitting on window lost in thought, she sleepily called her: “Lavanya what are you doing up so late?”




Lavanya coming out of thoughts looked at her Anjali Di: “Nothing Di, just not feeling sleepy...”

Anjali looked at her sister carefully a moment and than getting up, walked to her: “You’re thinking about Arnav?”

Lavanya lowered her face replied sadly: “Yeah Di, since he has returned he is ignoring me and everyone in office are talking about him and Khushi being couple...do you really think he has moved Di? I know I hurted him a lot and been cruel in past...is he taking revenge on me for that? Did he really replace me with her?”

Anjali sat beside her and said: “Lav it is true that he was hurt when he left 6 years back and he is bound to be angry on you. Now whatever he has with that Khushi is his stubbornness and we all know how much he loves you....once his anger melts down he’ll be back to you in no time and that Khushi would be out, trust me..”

Lavanya hopefully looked at her asked: “You really think that?”





Anjali smilingly replied: “I know that, Arnav is yours and he’ll always be yours Lavanya...I’ll make sure of that..."

Lavanya hugged her Anjali smiling and said: “You’re the best Di in world...thank you, for being there always..."

Anjali: “Anything for you baby sis...come on, get up and sleep, its late and everything will be fine, quit worrying!”











Smiling both sisters got on bed to sleep, Lavanya was more determine to get her love back and closed her eyes, falling into her dreams of her perfect happily ever after. Anjali looked at her sleeping sister as she thought to herself in mind: “I’ll get you your love back Lav and for that Khushi has to get out of the picture ASAP and I’ll make sure of it....” determined to go any length for sister...even if it is be hook or crook.

The weekend passed and Monday came with everyone back to work complaining a little about weekend should be a little longer, load of gossip and energized to finish their task. The hottest gossip was with Pam and Sim who told about seeing ASR and Khushi at club on Friday night partying, this news spread like fire in office and everyone was talking about it. The gang also heard about it and weren’t much happy especially Lavanya was raging with the office staff talking as if Arnav-Khushi were couple and she wanted to shout at them that Arnav is only hers, they better stop linking Arnav with Khushi and seeing Khushi glued to Arnav didn’t help much, she just wanna snatch Arnav from her side and keep him with herself.










Days passed on with not much changes, Arnav still ignored them like they didn’t exist and if talked to them than it was purely professional while he was quite friendly with NK, Tuli even Samar and Khushi always tagging along with him everywhere which made them jealous and angry...they held her responsible for his detachment from them and they want him back by any cost. The differences between Samar, Tuli and NK with the gang has not changed, the trio were against whatever gang were planning while the gang refused to listen their words. The gang had made plans against Khushi and to gain Arnav back, always making sure Samar, Tuli or NK didn’t know as in case if they tell Arnav or try stop them...but their all plans had been flop...Arnav never falls nor he lets Khushi be target. Whereas, Arnav-Khushi are inseparable, Khushi’s chirpy personality has won everyone’s heart in office and all were scared and highly respected ASR.

Finally the day of presentation of Govt. Housing Project tender came and it was held in The Leela Palace Hotel conference room, many national and international companies were present as it was a project. As for A.K.R. Corp. being in collaboration with G.K. Construction, so both Arnav and Sashi were present being MD of their respective company, Sashi’s P.A. and Elisa, ASR’s, Personal Secretary and presentation was given both companies representative Lavanya in explaining architectural blueprint and details while Khushi presented interior designing part. Sashi felt proud seeing his daughter representing their company with fatherly pride while Arnav had his eyes glued on Khushi who looked very sexy in the blue outfit, hair in French braid (though he liked her open hair more but he knew it’s not possible for her to keep hair open always, especially on office hours) and red lipstick...she indeed looked sexy giving presentation confidently and he felt very proud.

After the finishing the presentation Khushi-Lavanya smiled and they gather their Laptop and files went to sit on their seats, Lavanya sat beside Sashi who gave her a proud smile which she returned smiling sweetly than her eyes on their own averted towards Arnav beside whom sat Khushi as she jealousy witnessed in front of her how Arnav proudly smiled at Khushi than kissed her check and said something in her ears, as Khushi lowered her face turning pink and swatted him lightly and her chuckled lightly at her than turning to watch the next presentation and Khushi too concentrated on the on-going proceedings.









Finally all the presentation of all companies was over and the result was to be announced as everyone held their breath and the host announced: “So the contact goes to A.K.R. Corp. and G.K. Construction” as everyone clapped and congratulated winning company. Arnav, Khushi, Lavanya, Sashi and the two P.A. followed going to the organizers talked about contract signing as theirs were shown way to another hall for refreshments. 





Finishing the talks Sashi went to other hall as Lavanya went to take her laptop and files when Arnav too made way to the table picking up Khushi’s laptop, as she looked at him was surprised when he said: “Congratulation Ms. Gupta, you did a good job” giving her a small smile.

Lavanya was ecstatic and happily replied: “Congratulation to you too Mr. Raizada”

Then came Khushi with big smile towards them, after she gave instructions to Elisa about talking to organizers about contract, Arnav took her in a big bear hug as her excitedly said: “We did it Baby-doll! We got the contract and all because of you...because you’re my luck charm! I can’t tell you how happy I’m! And Mahi what a presentation you gave, I’m so very proud of you!”

Khushi said still in hug: “Congratulation to you too Arnie and it’s because of you we got the project...not me, you did so much of hard work and it’s all because of that” pulled back giving him a charming smile.

Arnav: “No, it’s all because of you...you’re my lucky charm, my confider, my pillar and my strength. Thank you so much for being there for me always... okay now let’s get some refreshments, I know you are starving right now because you didn’t even have breakfast properly in all tension of presentation” smilingly they both made way to other hall where everyone was present.

In their own interaction Arnav-Khushi didn’t witness the dark look on Lavanya’s face burning in anger, she was so angry seeing them hugging like that in front of her and itched to tear them apart and wanted to murder Khushi for touching Arnav and she thought to herself: “How can My Arnav hug that girl like that in front me? And how dare her touch him in front of me?! Arnav congratulated her with hugging and praising Khushi while he was so formal with me....I know Arnav you’re doing all this in anger and to make me jealous, but I’ll win you soon and after that I’m going to throw that girl away from you!”

Lavanya coming out of her thoughts gathered her things and made way to the other hall, she saw Arnav, Khushi and Sashi sitting on a table talking and made her way, she sat down beside Sashi smiling at them all. Khushi happily said to Lavanya: “Congratulation, Lavanya”

Lavanya disinterestedly replied with small smile though she had eyes on Arnav: “Congrats to you too, Khushi”

Sashi happily said: “Well we got such a huge contract, I’m thinking of celebrating with a success party tomorrow for everyone. What you say?”

Lavanya smiled at her father replied: “Party is good idea, Dad.”






Khushi: “Yeah, after such hectic and hard work, success party is best for relieving stress.”






Arnav: “It’s a good idea and nice way to appreciate for their hard work and celebrate success with everyone.”

Sashi smilingly said: “Than it is settled, tomorrow is success party and everyone is invited...all get the announcement done in office and get the arrangement done”

Khushi smiled excitedly as she said: “Yayyyy Party! I love parties and let’s keep the theme ‘Gowns and Formals’...it will be so fun, right Arnav?!”

Arnav smiled at her childish excitement and Sashi also approved the theme suggested by Khushi and called his secretary to announce it to staff and make arrangements and bookings for party. The rest of the time spend was talking about business and interacting with other associates.

NEXT DAY












PARTY HALL, LE MERIDIAN HOTEL, NEW DELHI, 08:00 PM











As the Evening started all the employees started arriving and mingling with each other. The party was grand, not only employees but Sashi invited his all business associates also...Akshay Khurana and Naina Khurana were also present and he was greeting guests along with Garima along with Devyani Devi, his Mother-in-law. Samar in dark grey suit with light grey shirt and pink tie looked dashing and Tuli in simple hot pink satin gown with hair in French braid was turning lot of heads her way, were talking with some guests, while the rest of the gang were had eyes glued to door waiting for Arnav’s arrival.

TULI'S GOWN

Impatient Lavanya anxiously: “Where is Arnav? Why isn’t he here yet?! If he doesn’t come...than all this would go in vain”

Anjali who was looking gorgeous inn off-white silver mermaid gown said assuringly: “Don’t worry, he’ll be here soon”

ANJALI'S GOWN

Payal who was looking beautiful in royal-blue gown with hair in stylish hairdo said smilingly: “Yeah, don’t worry, he’ll be here anytime”

PAYAL'S GOWN

Lavanya nervously asked again: “I’m looking nice, right?”

Mayuri who was looking pretty in the light green simple gown said: “You’re looking fabulous; once Arnav sees you...he won’t be able to take eyes off you...woh Khushi bhi tumhare samane kuch nahi!”

MAYURI'S GOWN

Lavanya blushed and looked down at her red net and silk evening gown, it was Arnav’s favourite color...she left her hair open just like he loved, today she dressed up as he liked to see and hoped they were right.

 The party was in full swing, were the girls looked hot in gowns, the guys weren’t less...they looked dashing in formals, Aman in Black suit with white shirt and tie matching Anjali’s dress, Akash in dark blue suit with light blue shirt and black tie, Yuvi in black suit with light green shirt and NK was also in brown suit looking quite handsome flirting with a bunch of girls. The gang greeted when Epshita in violet one sleeve gown, looking very pretty entered with Kunal in back suit with black shirt and violet tie, looked very smart.

EPSHITA'S GOWN

They were all talking when Mayuri saw Arnav’s P.A. Elisa enter and elbow other and as expected not a moment or two following entered Arnav in black Nehru suit with red silk hanky in pocket with hair perfectly gelled and looking devilishly handsome making all girls drool while Lavanya got dreamy eyes which soon broke out of its trance as following that Arnav’s arm was wrapped around waist of Khushi who looked like an angel in simple red princess gown with hair in stylish French bun and diamond broach pin and minimal make-up had all male eyes on her...even Yuvi lightly whistled checking her out and Aman-Akash slipped a ‘Wow’ seeing her...as if feeling the male eyes on her Arnav held her more possessively making them turn other way....Lavanya was very jealous now.

Arnav-Khushi entered the hall as Khushi gave her charming smile to all, Arnav had a stone face but his eyes softened every time he looked at her and all eyes were on the beautiful couple...some admiring, some envy and some jealous-angry, but they could care less about. They welcomed by Sashi, Garima and Devyani also joined by Akshay and Naina who smiled seeing Arnav after a long time.











Arnav smilingly moved forward hugged Garima said: “Hey Beautiful! How are you? I missed you and your Aloo Paneer so much”

Garima pushed him off with angry face said: “Chal jhootha! You didn’t miss us at all...06 years Arnav, no contact...you left without informing and never contacted nor we had any idea where you were! I’m so angry with you and I’m not talking to you!!”

Arnav held his ears making a cute face: “Sorry”

Garima melted said: “Okay you’re forgiven...but on one condition you have to come on dinner at Gupta Haveli tomorrow...”

Arnav smiled cheekily said: “Okay done and you’ve to make Aloo-Paneer for me” and Garima nodded in yes caressed his cheek lovingly.

Arnav moved to Naina smilingly and going to hug her but she swatted his hands saying: “Don’t you dare! One you left without any clue or informing...didn’t even come to meet us last time and on top of that 6 yrs no nothing...aur ab itna pyar aa raha hai, get lost! I’m not gonna melt so easily!”

Arnav smiled at her motherly scolding and complains said: “Sorry Naina aunty” holding his ears making a baby face and seeing her turning her face other side he continued: “If you want I can do sit-ups as punishment....should I do sit-ups holding ears now?”

 And was going to do but she hurriedly stopped him and pulled his hand down said: “That enough....your drama hasn’t changed in 6 years, nautanki! Ja maaf kiya” patting his cheek lovingly and he hugged her smiling.

Arnav then went hugging Devyani smiling: “Nani! My sweetest dearest Nani! How are you?!”

Nani: “Chal hath Badmash! Now you remember Nani, in last 6 years not a single phone call and now suddenly so much love for Nani, I’m not your Nani!”

Arnav sweetly said: “Nani" making a baby face which can melt anyone.

Nani smiled giving up: “Okay, stop the drama” and hugging him as lovingly patted his head.

Pulling back Arnav greeted Akshay smilingly and hugged him asking: “Hello uncle, how are you?”





Akshay reciprocated and gave a fatherly pat said: “I’m good Arnav; it’s good to see you back again”

Arnav just smiled and said: “I’m glad to see you all again”

Stepping back Arnav stood beside Khushi who stood silently watching him smilingly all the while and held her hand. Nani smilingly asked: “Aur tum kon ho? Arnav milwayega nahi?!” gesturing towards Khushi for introduction. (And who are you? Arnav won’t you introduced her?!)

Arnav smilingly replied: “Oh this is Khushi and Khush, this is Nani, Garima aunty, Naina aunty and Akshay uncle” and they smiled at her as she cutely said "Namaste" in British accent.

Naina: “You are Indian, right?”





Khushi smilingly replied: “Yeah, but born and brought-up in England, so I don’t know how to speak Hindi much but I do understand”




Akshay questioned: “You were intern in G.K. Constructions, weren’t you?”

Khushi smiled replying: “6 months...and that time I visited India for the very 1st time and this would be my 2nd visit”

Akshay nodded smilingly and Nani smiling said: “Bahut pyaari hai” as she pinched her chin lovingly.









Garima just simply looked at smiling Khushi’s face, the young lady in front of her was no doubt angelically beautiful and there was something innocent and pure shining in her every word and gesture...somehow this girl pulled Garima’s heartstring, something about her made her feel as if she knows her and this girl reminded her of someone..That thought brought yrs long sadness with the thought of, if ‘She’ was here than ‘She’ too had been like Khushi. But with so many years passed Garima had learned to mask her emotions very well and smiled sweetly at Khushi as she watched how animatedly she chatted, smiling brightly with her deep dimples and shining forest green eyes.

The party was going on in full swing with everyone enjoying...some were chatting and mingling, some dancing on the temporary dance floor as the DJ played some nice party songs and enough romantic songs for couples to dance. The gang were watching Arnav-Khushi talking with Tuli, Epshita and Kunal...all happy and smiley while Arnav never did glance at them and didn’t even let Khushi near them. Lavanya was very disappointed that Arnav didn’t even look at her way when she got all dolled-up today for him and seeing him glued with Khushi who was looking so beautiful didn’t help much and she longingly looked at Arnav hoping he would see her.








Suddenly the lights went dim and on stage stood Samar with mike in hand getting every ones’ attention and giving an charming smile he addressed: “Hello everyone! I’ve something to say, don’t worry I won’t take much time...I hope all are enjoying party?!” as everyone cheered happily saying a loud ‘Yes’.

Samar continued: “Good to hear that. Now as you know this party is success party of A.K.R Corp. and G.K. Constructions bagging such a big deal, so big hand applause for Arnav, Khushi, Lavanya and Anjali who worked so hard working on this project” as everyone clapped and he continued: “Now let’s add more fun in this party, what say?” and all shouted in loud ‘Yes’

Samar smilingly said: “So I request Arnav, you have to sing, one song from you...what say everyone?” As all cheered and clapped loudly.





Arnav was caught off-guard and started chocking on his drink, started coughing and Lavanya had the urge to go to him and smoothed him, but saw Khushi doing it, making her heart prick. Arnav started refusing: “No please...spare me” as he tried denying.

Samar: “No, we’re not listening to any excuse... you’ll HAVE to sing”

Arnav tried excusing but it seemed no one was ready to spare him and everyone insisted, encouraging him. After a lot of pushing and with Khushi urging him, he couldn’t refuse anymore making her smile at brightly at him...what would he do just to see her smile like that at him, he thought. Arnav went to DJ and softly told him the music he needs to be played also taking the guitar from the DJ which was kept beside, as he went up to stage sitting down on the long stool kept and the mike was positioned in front of him as he spoke: “Good evening everyone! So much for trying to escape this and Samar I’m going to get you for this later, you just wait and watch out!” making all laugh and Samar held his ears in apology making a cute face.

Arnav continued: “Well as you I’m not that good in Hindi, so please forgive me if I make mistake...this song I heard some time ago and I really liked it...it described my feelings for someone very close, something I wanna say to her. I might have said this to her thousand times but it’s been a while I said it properly...And to think its nice way to show her again, so this song is dedicated to her, for being my strength, for being my light, being my best friend...just simply being there for me, always....”





And Lavanya looked expectantly with the rest of the gang knowing he must be talking about her, but the hopes dashed upon hearing his next words, Arnav continued: “...this song is for you Mahiya” giving a flying kiss to Khushi stood beside Tuli, Samar, Epshita and Kunal laughing at his antics.

Arnav started strumming the cords of guitar and the DJ played the karaoke music as per Arnav’s request with spotlights on him. And he started singing, with his eyes on Khushi...

He got up from the stool and kept the guitar down as he made way down the stage and walked up to Khushi, held her hand and took her to dance floor as he swirled her to the music and sang the next lines, smiling softly seeing her bright smile...

Following the cue many other couples made way to the dance floor...Kunal turned taking Epshita’s hand and made to dance floor, dancing in slow dance. Samar look at Tuli forwarding a hand asked smiling: “May I’ve this dance with you?” and Tuli blushed placing her hand with shy smile as Samar took the lead of taking her to dance floor, twirling to the music, smiling at her sweetly.

Yuvi too forwarded his hand to his wife, who for once being soft and lady-like placed her hand in his as he took her to dance floor, Akash too smilingly looked at Payal who understanding his silent words blushed nodding a little and on cue Akash too dragged her for dance. Seeing so many couples Aman forwarded his hand to Anjali who smilingly too his hand and both also joined the dancing couples on dance floor.

It was only Lavanya left behind alone as she looked at the dance floor longingly, everyone had someone, Anjali had Aman, Mayuri has Yuvi, Akash has Payal...even Samar had Tuli and NK also found himself a partner to dance with. But here she was alone and the one she wanted to be with was with someone else as she looked at Arnav-Khushi on dance floor smiling at each other.

Arnav looked at Khushi with his silver eyes shining world’s love and tenderness and Khushi looked at him with forest green eyes shining with devotion and love. Arnav twirled Khushi, pulling her back in his arms....

Khushi kissed his cheek smilingly as Arnav rubbed his nose with her and swirling them both to the music smiling at his Princess, who filled at his life with so much happiness that whenever he looks back it’s only the memories she gave filling up his life...

As the song ended all the couples broke apart and everyone applauded Arnav for singing such a beautiful song, hugged Khushi sideways and kissed her cheek as she flashed a dimple smile at him and kissed his chin making his left side dimple to pop with his lopsided smile and giggling Khushi poked his dimple making him smile broader.

Lavanya who was intently watching the scene felt tears filled her eyes watching the scene in front of her and someone stood beside her making her quickly brush her tears off and looked beside her to see her and smiled at him saying: “Hi Dad!” faking a smile at him.

Sashi: “What happened to you? Why such a long face?”

Lavanya lowered her eyes trying to hide her tears replied: “Nothing Dad, I’m just bit tried”

Sashi: “I’m your Dad and I know you better than that...You’re feeling bad seeing Arnav with Khushi and ignoring you?”

Lavanya looked down not meeting her father’s eyes said sadly: “Everyone has someone or the other; but look at me...I’m standing here alone. What should I do Dad, I love him so much and he doesn’t even look at me...always with Khushi. It hurts dad, it really hurts bad!” as tears make their way down her eyes.

Sashi side hugged her and wiped her tears off as he told her: “Well first you stop crying and about Arnav’s ignorance...he is just angry with you &it is obvious because after everything that happened 06 years ago it is bound to happen. I just thought to tell you that we invited Arnav at our home tomorrow and I was thinking to talk to him about you...maybe fix your marriage with him after clearing up everything.”

Lavanya looked at her Dad with hopeful eyes: “Really?”

Sashi nodded at his daughter smiling down at her and Lavanya happily hugged her father saying: “Thank you, thank you...thank you so much Dad! You’re the best! I love you sooooo much!”







Sashi hugged his daughter close smiled seeing her happy again, he loves his daughter very much and he can do anything for his daughters happiness...so if Lavanya’s happiness is Arnav, then he’ll get Arnav for his daughter, even if he had to snatch Arnav from Khushi for his daughter’s happiness, thought Sashi.

Than his eyes fell on Arnav who was standing with his arm around Khushi’s waist talking to Samar, Tuli and NK as Khushi was animatedly explaining them something making other laugh while Arnav was looking at her with soft grey his and Khushi looked up at him for a moment giving him a cute dimple smile as he dropped a kiss on her nose making her giggle...He could do anything for his daughter but looking at Khushi’s happy face somehow made his decision flatter, there is something about Khushi and the pure innocence that makes his heart tug.
